WOW, I’ve had a very busy and stressful last few months. In April I closed my shop for what was suppose to be a short break. Due to a personal family matter it’s forced me to extend my break and re-evaluate.

I’ve realized I’m one person. One person who “Thinks” she’s Wonder Woman, but NOT! { BIG SMILE} I also reminded myself that for a business to be a success it should be fun and rewarding!

So, I came up with a more sustainable way to move forward, remove some guilt and continue my sewing love affair!

I decided to transition Fun-n-Sheek to primarily RTS (Ready to Ship) items. I will also be adding a new “Limited Edition” section. This will allow me to make custom items for a limited/first come basis.

This decision was very hard but these changes will help remove the pressure of deadlines and allow me more time with family and friends! {HUGE SMILE}

I look forward to what’s ahead and hope everyone continues to follow me on this journey!

Plan a Craft Bazaar? {BIG GRIN}

Why? {I'm nuts}

It can be scary to participate in a craft show!

It can be even scarier when you arrive and there's a lot of competition!

No one wants to arrive, set up and start second guessing themselves!

The Goal?

Have no two booths alike!

For my Little Social Lights

I decided it was time to add a new style for my Little Social Lights! I have been playing around with this dress for a bit and think I finally go it! I am LOVING the shoulder straps!

The flower has been a thorn in my side... (That's a VERY kid friendly way to put it) So it might be eliminated : (

I know it looks very Spring/Summer but I was thinking this dress could be worn in the Fall/Winter with an undershirt and maybe some cute boots which would make it a very versatile piece!

I also need some help from my moms!!! Should I add a ruffle or leave it without one?

I must first start with I am so sorry for being such a BAD Blogger! I really miss my blog friends : ( I have been so busy that if my head were not attached it would be posted on the side of a milk carton as missing! I have been sewing my tail off!!! I am getting some pieces ready for an upcoming local Nutcracker Market that I am super excited about! This is a first for me and I am really looking forward to it! Wish me luck (BIG SMILE)

All items will not only be at the market but also uploaded in my Etsy shop and on my new future website. YUP I finally took the plunge and had a website created!!! See what I mean BUSY???!! It's still in the creation stage so it's not ready for viewing just yet but very soon.

I also decided it was time to treat myself for a change. I have been dreaming about a BabyLock serger for a long time. I just knew with the Quilt Market in town there would be some deals. So I decided to upgrade (BIG BIG BIG SMILE)

Fun-n-Sheek is Sewing Oodles!

Oodles - A superabundance of anything; a mass of things; a heap; a great quantity.

Hint Hint! I am naming the pattern design company Sewing Oodles!

Why Sewing Oodels? I LOVE to sew. It's my choice of therapy : ) I wanted a fun, goofy and spirited name that would be fun to say!

Sewing Oodles will be PDF patterns with easy to follow instructions that are affordable. Each pattern will come with examples and tons of tips/options to make your sewing projects look their best!

A blog page is being created and will be available soon. I will have the #1 pattern uploaded and ready to purchase along with others I am currently working on. I love a good challenge but I honestly had NO idea how time consuming this adventure would be.

Unfortunately since starting pattern drafts some of my Fun-n-Sheek projects took a back burner. I am working on some One of A kinds that will be put in the shop monthly. They will vary in sizes and materials. All will be sold on a first come basis and not recreated. Unless you say please : )

It was really hard for me to make a decision. I really liked all the names! They were inspiration for a few other things in the works : ) But I must say the simplicity of #1 just hit the hardest. I know its odd but it fits.

Creating Patterns

I had been warned that designing/creating patterns is extremely time consuming and at times frustrating. However, I am very stubborn so I moved forward! And glad I did...

I don't have a name for it yet but it was created with simplicity in mind. It will have options for different straps, lengths and possibly adding a ruffle or band to the bottom. I am hoping to have all the directions ready in a couple weeks.

In the mean time I need help with a name. Please post me a comment with your suggestion and the winner will receive one of these sewn by me FREE!

But after opening and reviewing I realized this picture/cute set was tagged for a future home page of Etsy with the title "Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice"!

I know its kind of dorky to be excited over this. BUT I AM! Huge thank you to kelligbarnettdesigns for picking one of my pieces for your treasury!

Hair Bows

It was TIME for me to figure out how to make hair bows! It only makes sense. However, I am horrible at anything crafty and in my mind making hair bows are crafty. So this was a huge challenge for me. But after weeks of trying and throwing it across the room several times I FINALLY got it!

Girls just Wanna Have Fun!

Every year we have a tradition to have an early lunch at Monument Inn. This year was no exception and proved to be loads of fun!

Our tradition started when my grandmother was alive. She passed in 2006. She was/is loved dearly and missed every day. Even though she has passed we continue with the tradition to make new memories and talk about previous ones. The below picture was the last Mothers day picture we took before her passing.

I have loads of mixed feelings about this picture. One because it has my grandmother in it and two because I looked like a cow!

These pictures are new memories. They are of my cousin and I having an I DON’T KNOW moment! We were both born the same year and MADE to like each other rather we wanted to or not. I am grateful for her and our lasting bond. She is more like a sister to me and I am not sure what I would do without her. LOVE YOU!

Of course I could not close this post without putting a picture of Princess and Grandma. Both whom are also very special and loved very much!

Thank you for making this a special mother’s day! Love you all…

Flower Power

I am finally getting around to showing you what I have been doing with the flowers. Sorry for the long delay. The flower pictured is only a broach but can be used in many different ways. Hair clips, headbands, necklaces etc. My flowers will be used in many different ways and making their first debut in my next collection.

This next picture is kind of special for me. I don't know if you recall but I posted a while back that I had an announcement. Well when I was taking quilt lessons I was asked about teaching some beginner sewing classes. I JUMPED at this opportunity! While we have not formalized any of the details the below piece was sewn for the store and is on display there now : )

This piece was chosen because it's a new pattern the store started carrying. Of course I volunteered to create one for display : ) Its a twirl skirt.

Once again my pictures NEVER do justice so if you are in the Huffman area stop by "The Quilt Room" and take a looksie.

Side note: If anyone is EVER interested in taking personal sewing lessons I would love for you to drop me a line. I am charging $15.00 for an hour.

No Longer MIA

So I take a short break for a bit but I am ECSTATIC to say I am back! I had a very good reason to be gone. Mr. S (Wonderful/best Hubby in the world) and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary. We took a seven day cruise and visited some awesome Caribbean Beaches! While I am thankful/fortunate to do this, seven days felt like an eternity! Let me also yell that I am thankful to have more than one room at home to hide in : )

Before I left I completed my upcoming Spring/Early Summer photo shoot with Heartspun Imagery! I will be posting the pictures soon and uploading them in my Etsy store in the upcoming days. Be on the look out for some FUN specials to celebrate the new collections!

On a final note I was able to get a shot of the finished quilt before it was shipped. I am sorry to say I was in such a hurry to get it shipped that I did not get pics of all the completed onsies : (

I am however working on a few more for a couple upcoming baby showers and will share them.

I NEVER thought I would say this but I want to join Facebook! I however am extremely challenged in creating a business page for it! While I think it would be great advertisement I want to use my business name rather then personal information. But this has been a huge challenge for me. I have been online for over an hour (HELP) trying to set it up and every time it asks for my name and then changes my business info to my personal info! Its extremely frustrating. If anyone out there has some tips on how to do this and would like to help this crazy frustrated person I would be extremely grateful! Hmmm Is there a book "Facebook for Dummies"??

On a different note I have been sewing my tail off. The next photo shoot is this coming Saturday and I have a long list of TO DO before I am ready! YIKES

OOOHH and the quilt is finished! But before I take and post a final pic I wanted to have the other layette pieces finished.

Monkeying Around 3

Two more classes to go and I will have a finished quilt. My First! To say I am excited is an understatement! I have already been asked to create another for a good friend. It will be on a smaller scale. But equally cute : )

In the picture above the boarders have been attached. Believe it or not I was very skeptical of how this was going to look.

The outer boarder (blue stars) will be the back of the quilt. The binding will be the red and cream sock print shown in the rail fence. I will have this finished just in time for the arrival of No Name and the shower. Hope they like it...

Oh and I have an announcement but am going to wait a couple of weeks before I post it. Be on the look out! Its a good one even I did not see coming!

Monkeying Around 2

Well I attended class two and I am still doing ok! I have now made all my "Rail Fence" pieces, cut out all my squares and sewn them in the correct sequence! Yippee

I am getting exciting about the finished look!

Next class is Thursday and we will be staring on the two boarders. I have to say quilting is VERY different than sewing garments but I am enjoying it!

I want to give much thanks and appreciation to the ladies who are teaching me how to create this fab quilt!

If you are ever in the Huffman,Texas area be sure to stop by the Quilt Room and say hi!

Even if you don't quilt they have loads of fabric (YUM) and other goodies in the shop : ) Not to mention they are some extremely NICE ladies : ) SO RARE!!!

Monkeying Around

I have always wanted to learn how to quilt. My excuse for never trying is because I am awful at math! I knew there would be lots of measuring, little cuts & small stitches etc. But I was given a reason when my mom called to tell me my brother was expecting his first little one : )

A little boy. (I am calling him NO NAME for now)

So my scaredy-cat self signed up for a quilt class and went shopping for NO NAMES fabric!

I had seen this fabric previously while out and about and knew I had to get it!

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT ALL!!!

My first class was on Thursday night. I had a Wonderful time and had the pleasure of meeting some great/talented ladies. Our first class was just as I thought. We did measurements, cuts and small stitches. Which I am HAPPY to say was NOT SCARY AT ALL!

These are my first squares! Yippee for me...

As I get further each week I will be posting updates and pictures.

Oohhh don't be worried about the extra fabric! No waisting here!

I am creating a layette set once the quilt is finished!

4th Flower

This is the last delicate little flower!

I wish I had used pearls in the center but this was all I had ready for this little project.

For what I am creating I will be using pearls! Which I will have to get : )

The third flower is still my favorite but this flower is what I will be using for my upcoming project with a few of flower 3!

I hope everyone has enjoyed viewing these as much as I have enjoyed creating them.

I will do my best to create some tutorials for each of these when I get some time!

Flower 3

So I know the flowers must be getting old! But I have one more to share then I will show you what these flowers are for : )

This one is my favorite so far!

As you can see I used a different fabric for two reasons

1. I am using this fabric for a dress I am making

2. You must use Polyester to make these

I used a button in the center but you could use beads. This flower was equally easy and only took me about 10 min to make. REALLY!

Another Flower

I guess you could say I am ready for Spring! I have been playing around with fabric and making flowers out of all my scrap pieces lately.

Creating little details has never been my strong point. I have always just purchased the pieces already made. That's about to change. Everyone knows details make an outfit!

So I have made it a mission to learn and perfect them!

This flower was equally easy to make like the Frayed Rosettes in my previous post.

Don't let the fabric fool you. It's a different flower : )

I have two more I am working on and will be posting them shortly.

Once I have them all completed and perfected to my standards I will do my best to create tutorials for each and share!

This was one of my Christmas gifts. For those who don’t sew it’s a Ruffler Foot! It’s a tad bit scary looking don’t ya think? I was really excited to receive it. It makes perfect ruffles (AHHHHHH)

However, the first time I used it was a bit tricky. I can’t tell you how many needles went flying across the room (which was my fault)! Not to mention the foul words that came out of my mouth (working on this)! They should include safety glasses with purchase, pink girly ones!

I will continue to use it for some pieces but for the most part I have to say I prefer doing ruffles the old fashion way… I feel like I have more control over what I am working on.

If you’re a sewer and you have been debating on purchasing a Ruffler Foot I don’t want to discourage anyone. You will have lots of fun once you get the hang of it : )

A Few Tips!

1. When using a Ruffler Foot use Polyester thread. It’s stronger and less likely to break
2. Go SLOW
3. Test the position of your needle before sewing (so you don’t break them like me)
4. Test each of the settings on your foot with sample fabric as a reference

More T-Shirt Dresses

So I apologize I have not posted any new creations in a while... I have been sewing my tail off getting ready for our upcoming photo shoot with the Easter Collection. YA

Now if the weather will just cooperate!

But I have been doing more t-shirt dresses. WARNING!! My pictures SUCK!!!

I Promise they look better in person!

I did something a little different with this one. As you can see the bottom layer is more of a pencil skirt than the double ruffle. Even though it looks really skinny in this picture (its really not). Pencil skirts are making a come back so I figured I would give it a shot.

The second beauty turned out really cute. I love the extra flare I added too the bottom. I desperately tried to find a t-shirt with some kind of screen print but it was impossible! I think the tee needed something but I am sure the future owner can add her own personal touch to jazz it up : )

If I am lucky to get pictures of the future owners I will be sure to post them!

No Sew Necklace and Easter Peek

I feel in LOVE with this necklace (worn by Elizabeth Kartchner) and have seen them at Anthropologie. I will purchase many other things from Anthro but I refuse to spend $75.00 and up on a trendy necklace!

So the other day I came across a free tutorial on how to make one of these rosettes and decided to give it a try. I mean why not? I have a ton of extra fabric and it would cost me zip!!

This is a NO Sew project! And was really easy to do! I encourage anyone to give it a try.

Here is my first attempt at it.. It needs a little more fraying in my opinion. But since I will be adding more then one to a necklace it would not hurt to have a variance : ) So with that I can honestly say I really like it!

This is also going to be SUPER CUTE on some of the outfits!!

TShirt Dress #2

I SOOOOO love this picture! It is typical Princess!

Princess is loving her new Tshirt dress and I could not be happier!

So that I continue to stay cool in the size 7 and up gang I am going to keep creating and adding to these! I have already purchased some tanks for the summer and with the help of Princess and her friends I am sure we will be creating some special pieces very soon!

I will be sure to bring these to the "Fun-n-Sheek" Trunk Shows!

2010 and Something New!

Happy New Year!

I made it a goal for 2010 to grow my business! It has taken me some time to come out of my shell and make this decision. (Which is SO NOT like me) but I have decided to take a gamble and give it a whirl : )

So here is one sample of how I am going to do it!

What better way to decide if you like my pieces then to see them in person! This will be the perfect opportunity to see, touch and comb over my craftsmanship!

All parties will be kid friendly and I will be able to do measurements on the spot!

2010 also holds new collections coming very soon! First photo shoot is scheduled February 6! Be on the look out for sneak peaks : )

4$ Tees

So maybe I took a vacation from my 9-5 job but not my passion (which is NOT a job) : ) While being home I have had time to start some great projects. I am only sharing one for now but will be posting all the others very soon!!!

This little beauty was an idea I had after seeing something similar at a children's shop for $70.00 (which I think is CRAZY)!!!!

I picked the shirt up at Wal-Mart for $4.00 and the other pieces for about $6.00 more. Not including my time I have only invested $10.00 in this cutie : ) Can we all say YIPPEE!!!

This is my first attempt and I will be doing a few more and changing a few things. All in all I am super pleased with it. This one is going to Princess and I am hoping to get pictures of her wearing it tomorrow.

While Jersey Knit doesn't fray I added a rolled hem anyway for some extra flare. The lace is also just some extra flare. I liked the sparkle!! So will Princess.

Christmas Past

Before I could post any new upcoming Christmas memories it was only fitting to enjoy some from the past. So while being completely open to any upcoming comments.... here we go....

Can we all say time warp!? This fab find is of myself and Amy around the age of 5 maybe 6... We always had Christmas Eve at my Nana's house.. We have THE BEST memories of Christmas with our grandparents.. It cracks me up to look at the decor in the picture. My Nana was a "Home Interior" addict! LOL : )

This next pic is of my wee little one who is NOT so little any longer... I truly miss the big cheeks and the rolls he had! JT was 1 year old in this shot and cute as ever..

does not last long : (

Who says "Fat Free" is all bad? This little treat is sooooo sweet! This was created using a scrap piece of fabric and a kitchen towel.. Its getting packed up and shipped out : ) The future owner is going to LOVE it and I am loving how it turned out! There will be one in my kitchen soon too : )

With the upcoming holidays its been a tad bit crazy. You know holiday shopping, parties, family, etc.. I am sure you get it.. But I was determined to finish this and post it before It's full blown out of control madness around here! This is a new Halter top paired with.... you got it Posh Pants.

I created this set with Heather Bailey fabric. I have had this fabric for a while now and have been dying to play with it. Its really pretty! I am ecstatic with how it turned out! Its a size 3/4 and will be put in my Etsy store. I have no idea why I have been on a kick with the 3/4 size.. Sorry!

With my much needed upcoming vacation I am going to focus on my new Spring collection. I know its early but I want to get a head start : )

I ordered all the fabric about a month ago and have not touched it... Its killing me. I feel like someone placed a cupcake in front of me and said you can look and smell it buttttttt you can't touch it!

Giveaway and New Pieces

During my little break I was able to get a few new pieces completed! First is a reversible jacket! It turned out so sweet! Its perfect for the cooler weather we are having.

This one is going to be donated to a benefit. The benefit is to help raise money for a little girl with stage four cancer : (

I had been itching at the skin to create this next piece ever since I got the pattern! I am thrilled with it and am thinking of making myself one : )

I mixed the fabrics on this one. Cotton and fleece. It would be really cute with wool but I was afraid wool would be too itchy for the kiddos. As you can see I have been playing with my applique! The satin stitch is awesome!! Its missing the clasp closure because I have not found one with enough bling for Princess!

I am going to try and get a few of each of these in my shop very soon! If anyone is interested they can be recreated using whatever fabrics you like : )

Anticipated new top!

Introducing my new Reversible top!

This will become a staple in my collection. Its so versatile. I have it paired with "Posh Pants". These are actually longer Posh Pants due to the season change. The reversible top could be paired with a long sleeve top to also accommodate the cooler weather : )

This set is a size 3/4. I choose to create this set using Michael Miller Fabrics (which look soooooo much better in person). It can be recreated with fabric of choice. I will be posting on Etsy tonight!

On a different note!!! The girls and I celebrated me turning another year older! Technically I am not another year older until next week but with the holidays and schedules this week worked out perfect for our annual dinner! We had an absolute BLAST (and a lot of WINE)! I guess getting older isn't so bad when you have family and friends like mine to celebrate with! LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Chanel has Skill

I knew when I got Chanel she had skill! I took a class on how to Applique. But wait, not just any Applique. Embroidery Applique! Take a look at my project!

Notice his little body is done with a scrap piece of faux suede and the rest is embroidery... I will be downloading new designs to test out and share as fast as I can! (I will more then likely burn up our computer doing this) This project was created on a hand towel and I know just the person I am giving it too : )

Nothing is sacred in this house anymore! Towels, shirts you name it I will be Appliqueing it! This is going to make a great addition to some of my little people clothing!

Alice is Back!

This was created for a really good friend of mine. Her birthday was back in September and I created two bags before I got this one finished. Yes I know I am a tad late!! Maybe it was OCD I have no idea. Anyway here it is!!!

I am really proud of how it turned out! Especially considering I almost glued my hand to the table getting it together! ROFL...

The inside is equally cute! Something about this style bag is so fun!

The much anticipated wait is OVER!! Yippee! I wanted to put together a collage but then you wouldn't get to see the details. Soooooo get ready for picture over load!

I hope these help portray the work I do. Also note the girls are each a different size. I wanted parents to see I can create unique items for any age/size. Any of these garments can be created in fabric of your choice and embellishments can be added!

Sewing up New Creations!

Before the photo shoot I created a new dress. I was waiting to post it because I wanted to put the pictures with full details up. But I just can't wait. Soooo meet "Holly"!

I think it turned out adorable. My pictures never do justice. Keep in mind it can be created with any fabric. This is corduroy and cotton. I am going to create a few more in different styles and embellishments. Some of us are more visual then imaginative : )

On a different note some of you will be excited to know I am working with a few new designs (Whoa Hoo). They are tops (FINALLY). I have been asked quite a bit about tops. I am hoping to be able to share by Sunday.

I am also working on another dress that I am POSITIVE is going to be a hit!! But I don't want to spoil it's entrance and will wait until it's finished to chat about it!

Busy Weekend

This weekend has been crazy!!!! Not even sure if I can classify it as a weekend. There has been no relax time!

It started on Friday night with cocktails and dinner then some good girl chat. OK that sounded a little like relaxing : ) Then Saturday AM early at the GRB convention center.

Princess and her team had a cheer competition! OMG is pretty much all I can say about that! I was all about some spirit fingers : ) I am not sure who had more fun me or her!

I have posted a few of her and the team and of course grandma!!!

Oh and they WON!! Way to go girls!!

I am off to finish a few pieces for the photo shoot today! Real excited to get the girls together wearing my SNOS Originals!

Christmas Dress

This dress and I have a LOVE/HATE thing going on! Before it can be worn it needs to be dipped in holy water! I have said every curse word in the book while making it!! NO LIE..

You name it and it went wrong.. I can't tell you how many needle I broke and how much re-threading I had to do...

Buttttt in the end I have to say I really like it! This one is the classic/traditional one I mentioned in a previous post. I will have to shorten the tulle a little but want to wait until Princess puts it on to see just how much trimming to do. I am also going to make a sash for it but have not made up my mind on which color. Prob red! Although black would look good too.

I am also thinking a faux fur wrap would look really cute..

So now its pretty obvious I need some HELP. Please leave me your comments and let me know your thoughts on the faux fur and the sash!

Princess in Posh Pants

Princess has actually had her pants for a bit now but I am just now getting around to posting her pics! She cracks me up! She does not take a bad picture. EVER!!!

Miss Thang is in cheer and every pose says it all! After putting these pants on she informed me that the ruffle was a little itchy. So with as cute as they are I will not be making them with the sequence again : ( Will have to find an alternative....

On a different note I started Christmas Dresses. I have one almost completed and should be able to post tomorrow. Its a more classic/traditional dress. I am also working on something a little different. I was inspired by a pair of my own knee high Santa socks that are red and white stripped. WISH ME LUCK!! It very different...

2009 Festival and New Dress

So it has been very busy around here…. I got my first custom order on Etsy and even if she leaves me negative feedback I tell you that mom is GREAT… She has been super friendly and EASY to communicate with… I always get worried when creating something for anyone else because I want them to truly love it.. I can take the criticism but would rather not : ) So thank you friendly person on ETSY!

Last weekend I also attended the International quilt festival! What an experience!!!! I had a great time and meet some really nice ladies. I have no idea why they call it "Quilt Festival" because it was way more then quilting! It was very overwhelming to see all the booths and to take in all the excitement. With two thousand booths how could you not be overwhelmed! There was a lot of cool new items like this one The Fabric Organizer. Such a simple item but so helpful. Yup I have placed my order!

I have also been busy whipping up some Christmas/Holiday dresses! I should have a few posted later this week but in the mean time have a looksie at this one!

How cute is this???? I LOVE it. I have decided I can shorten and also make it a top if anyone is interested. It would be cute with the posh pants ooohhhh and a pocket! Don't be fooled and think it looks like "Faith".. It's different I promise!

Faith Outfit

Well since we had such bad weather I was able to complete this "Faith Outfit" its a size 3/4 (I can make this in 6M to 6Y) if interested. I think it turned out adorable. The set will be going on Etsy today. Thank goodness I purchased the form. It works so much better then a little person hanger! The only problem now is that I will have to buy more in different sizes....... EEEK!

To make this versatile I would pair with a long sleeve light weight shirt under the top. Sorry did not have one for model purpose.

I personally love the back I think its so darling!

Note: The top band has elastic which I did not seal due to each child being different. If you look further down my blog I have this top posted on Princess. Its suppose to have a little ruffle effect. Which does not show well on this form : (

I spent the weekend putting together a new dress and more of the Groovy Dresses (not shown). This one is actually more of a summer spring dress but I figure it could still be worn with a darling sweater! Again I used Amy Butler fabrics. This little dress so needed a model to do it justice : ( Sorry!

On a different note my wonderful husband spent part of Saturday putting together my new work space.. YA!! It was long over due and I could not be more happy with how it turned out. Thanks MacGyver : ) See the unstable table I have had to work on? And how crowded it is!

So happy with this. I even have space for a dress form!

Just as I promised here are a few more of the Posh Pants (not pictured size 5*6). These are way more vibrant and have more action going on! Each featured with Amy Butler fabrics.

Sorry for the not so detailed pictures. I am no Viviana : )

Note the sizes below the pants in the above and below pics. A good description of these is loose fitting more like Gauchos! Working on getting a model for a better description and view : )

So I am thinking of doing some coordinating aprons for these. That way you fierce moms will have a matching outfit but also two pieces that can be used separately. A long or short sleeve will coordinate nicely with the aprons.

Posh Baby Pants

OK and this is why I wish I had a baby girl! These turned out adorable and are truly an SNOS Original! I choose a neutral fabric and left the ruffle the same. I promise to be more fun on the others.

I have sizes 6 months to 6 youth. The pants featured are 9 months. I will be posting one of each once complete. As long as they don't sell before I get them all completed : ) I will also be making matching booties for the babies! For the youth sizes I will work on a cute tee or some embroidery.

Groovy Princess

OMG'sh! Princess (soon to be DIVA) as you can see got the dress today! LOVE IT! I just love when I get to take pictures of her. She does some of the best poses. I brought her a bracelet (in the picture) because when she seen it on-line she asked me where the diamonds were. ROFL... I will be making more of these this weekend. I am going to make a variety of sizes. So if anyone is interested in one please let me know.

While I was visiting princess I picked up two treats for me! OH BOY : )

Ok I know, I should not get excited about this but everything I make is for little people it only makes since to have a little person hanger! Let me tell you when she handed me this I was over joyed... But the next item was even better..

Is this not the BEST! I am in love with it and can't wait to hang it! I don't know what woman doesn't have a thing for shoes. I need an insurance policy for mine. NO KIDDING..

I have been itching at the skin all day wanting to use "Chanel" I was ready to come out of my skin! I had cut these patterns out while I was machine less. Sew as soon as I got home today I went right to work! This dress is super easy to make and has a groovy appearance. This hanger however does not do it justice. (SORRY)

This one is for Princess of course. I envision some tights and boots with it. Maybe hair in pony tail : ) She is sure to have a cycadelic time wearing! I will be sure to post some pics of her wearing soon.

SURPRISE!

I got a make over! This just seems more me then the cutie style I had... I just LOVE it! Erin from Designer Blogs did a great job. Thank you so much : ) I actually contacted Erin early part of September. The new design was worth the wait! If you have been wanting a designer blog I highly recommend them.

On a different note I got a new machine! I am naming it Chanel! Because I could have bought one. (and we all know I love Chanel!) LOL I am super excited and can't wait to start sharing some new creations with it. It's far more advanced then what I am use to but can't wait to start playing with it and learning all the cool new features. I purchased the machine from the Humble Sewing Center. If you need a new machine I highly highly highly recommend them. They are full of knowledge and extremely helpful.

Lesson Learned

Today I learned the hard way why you purchase your machines from a rep and not Amazon, Walmart, etc! I upgraded one of my machines about six months ago. Last night it decided to DIE!!! (can we all yell DEVASTATED) I called to see what I needed to do (return) and was told they only had a thirty day return policy on this machine. Which meant now I have to pay about $100.00 not including any parts that might be needed. Had I purchased from a rep all this would be covered... I am sooooo angry at myself.. On the bright side I have been wanting an embroidery machine so this might be the opportunity to break down and buy one machine with both functions and have my other fixed as yet another spare to add to my collection. Yes my husband thinks we need to add another room just for my machines : ) LOL

I love my machine and am extremely comfortable sewing with it. I did break out my 10 year old spare and yes it works like a charm. It just does not have all the bells and whistles that I have gotten spoiled too. Stay tuned I will have a new one by Friday FOR SURE!!!

Sweat Shop

I apologize now if the title offends anyone. My wonderful husband named our spare room "The Sweat Shop" after I took a portion of it over for my sewing. Except now I should just say I took the entire room over (shown above). In the past I would set a table up in the family room and leave it there until I finished my projects. That did not work well for the other family members. So I took over part of the spare room.

My in-laws came to visit and I moved the machines in the game room and had to leave the table in the room with them... It was bad. Sew I decided to do something about it and organize myself.. I headed straight to my local Wal-Mart and purchased clear containers for my small fortune in fabric... (NO LIE) I am such a Fabric O-Holic and proud of it!

I cut samples of each fabric I placed in the bins so that I could get a visual. It was too challenging to try and label them individually. Its really working for me. I was even able to hang some art work up. I think it looks FAB!

I am not finished so this is just a peak at how far I have come. I will be moving things out of this room to make space for the new table I have ordered. I will post a pic of the complete make over soon!

Amy Butler has a new line of fabric coming out (as do most of the designers). She named it well because I LOVE all the samples she has posted on her site. I am also LOVING the new patterns she is introducing. I can't wait to purchase the fabric above in the letter V. Its beautiful! I am a huge Amy fan. To me she is "Chanel" in the fabric world!!! LOL

October 15 starts the Houston Quilt Festival/Market. I will be attending and I am excited about it!! I have no idea why they call it the Quilt Festival because its not all about quilting. There will be hundreds of vendors there. I am hoping to get a peak at Amy's booth! Smile

Oh Baby!

I will be attend an upcoming craft show. My first at that! I figured I need some inventory! Here is a sneak peak at a few pieces. Each was made with scrap material. I realized while using the scraps that I make more treats for girls then I do for the little boys : ( Sorry... I am going to work on that.

I made two styles. Notice the "Princess" and "Cutie Pie" fabric here. It's Heather Baily (Pop Garden) and I think they are sooooo cute. The pattern was for 0-3 months however, I believe they will fit at 3-6 as well.

Soooo this is it! The only boy fabric I had : ( I am really ecstatic with how they turned out. I have to admit they would look really cute this fall with some khaki pants or little jeans! And for all my "RED NECK" girlfriends and family I know these will be your fav!

One last note, Stardust shoes has asked that her pattern only be used for personal items. So I found another very similar. I like to respect the wishes of any inventory/creator and give credit where credit is due. I hope you will too.

Cutie Pie and Twin Bro

I did exactly what I stated I was going to do! I stopped and smelled the roses and then went right back to sewing!! A lot... I was able to get many things completed and it feels great.

One thing I worked on was a tutu for "Cutie Pie" and does she ever look adorable in it! I have posted several pictures. Stop and Smell the Roses

Today starts a long weekend for me. With Labor Day I decided to take Friday off and make it a four day weekend. (Whoa Hooooo) The extra time will be nice to get some errands and some projects completed. I have a few more Alice pieces I am finishing up and they are taking me forever.

Do you ever sit and wonder where all the time went in a day? I wish sometimes I could just stop time, wrinkles, gray hair, sagging skin, etc! LOL. Makes me think of the movie “Click”. Except I don’t want to fast forward.. I want to rewind.

I also remember being young and wishing to be older. But of course never look older!!! If I had only known then what I know now! So this weekend is a personal challenge for me to stop and smell the roses. I encourage anyone else who wonders where their time went to stop and smell the roses too.

Tutu

So with Fall coming up (all though in Texas you would not know) I could not resist making a Tutu! I have to say I am quite happy with it. There are a few options when making tutu's. This one is a NO SEW, that's right NO SEW. You can find the instructions all over the Internet. I also have another that is sewn. Its a little more time consuming but in my opinion looks no different. I purchased the tulle at Hobby Lobby and Joann's. Hobby Lobby actually has their tulle on sale this week for about 1.99 if interested. I choose the spools. In my opinion they are easier to work with.

This jewel is for a precious little girl whom I hope to have a picture wearing in the next couple of days! "Cutie Pie" will also be getting her very own tutu. Which I will also post...

I could not resist making one of the Faith tops for this little "Cutie Pie" it actually looks more like a dress on her but is absolutely adorable! After seeing this on her it gave me an idea for a really cute idea. I am working on it now and should be able to post it later this weekend (I Hope).... I really enjoy making all the little people clothes and want to give all the supportive moms a Huge Thanks! You All ROCK!

Alice is DONE

Alice is finally done! I learn a lot each time I sew a new piece. I must say I am my WORST critic. There are several things I will do different next time. This bag was a tad bit tricky and with all the elements added I did not make it any easier. Buuuutttt at least I learned from it : ) I truly like the bag all the colors and details are really different and make it an SNOS Original. The charms are the pieces from the UK I ordered (not all of them just a few). I will be making a few more Alice pieces but no two,three or four will be a like. So be on the look out!

Note: the charms are just pinned on the bag so pardon the loose look. Will get them on there correct tomorrow : )

Alice Update and Thank You

So I wanted to give everyone an update on "Alice". It has taken me longer then expected to finish this bag. Only because I have been blessed with some special orders/projects. Good news is that its almost finished and I hope to have a pictured posted by Friday! YA... Some special items that are being worked into the bag arrived today from Europe. Yup Europe. As I stated earlier this one is a busy piece! (which I am OK with) This one is sure to be a very special SNOS Original!

Another note: I ordered business cards today and will be giving them to EVERYONE and want to give a special thanks to the person who came up with "SNOS Original" it stuck!! : )

The Princess graced me with her presence today! Her ladies in waiting (Mom and Myself) got her ready for the photo shoot and off we went. She was a great sport today and super excited that the skirt was finished : ) It looks terrific and I am so glad I have a cutie like her to make such outfits for! She's a real Princess!

Alice Bag

I adore Alice in Wonderland! In honor of the upcoming release I thought why not make a bag! I am calling it "Alice".. This whimsical Alice in Wonderland print has such vivid color. Sure to draw some attention, don't you think? This is just a sneak peak. I am trying really hard not to make it to busy but it is Alice in Wonderland and BUSY is winning so far! Finished Skirt - YA ME!

Hurray - - - I finished the skirt and it looks darling! It was actually easy and if anyone has been debating on purchasing this pattern I highly recommend it! Super easy to do. The skirt and top were both made with three coordinating fabrics that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. Here are a few pictures of it finished. I have left the princess's assistant (MOM) a message hoping to get on her crazy calendar so we can get a picture. For a 5 year old her schedule is crazier then mine!!

Sewing Tip

Hi! I purchased a new pattern today but before cutting it out I wanted to share a great tip I learned from a sewing expert/pro. I learned a lot of great tips from her! THANK YOU LINDA...

This is simple and I don't know why I had to have someone else tell me (DUH). Anyway, Before cutting any pieces go to your local Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot and pick up some clear painters plastic. The thicker the better in my opinion. ( you get where this is going now?)

Place the clear plastic over the pattern and trace the size you need with a perm marker

Next cut your pieces out (not shown here)

Genius! The benefit is great.. You now will be able to re-use the pattern again to make other sizes.

I usually place my cut out pieces in a plastic baggie and label it so I don't get them mixed up : )

If this is just not one of the sweetest patterns by fab Patty Young of Modkid I don't know what is! I finished the top at the beginning of July and am just now getting to the skirt. I wish I had a picture to post of the top but unfortunately I don't : ( Soooo once I have the skirt finished I will be sure to take pictures of the princess (crown and all) wearing the whole ensemble! Wish me luck...

Baby Burp Rag

Hi everyone! A good friend of mine at the office just welcomed a new baby girl to their family. They have this inside thing about monkeys soooooo I decided to make them something to welcome her home! I am doing a set. Burp cloth, Onsie and some Booties. So far I have completed the burp cloth and am sharing how I created it and what was needed. SUPER EASY! Once I have the set complete I will retake pictures and post : )

What you need:

1 Cloth Diaper ( I used Gerber)

2 Scrap fabric (your choice for size) does need to have an extra inch for edges

3 Iron

4 Pins

Measure your scrap fabric so that you have an extra inch on all sides. (The depth of the fabric is your choice) now fold the scrap fabric edges under - making sure they match the burp rag edges. Then iron them. Once you are happy with the placement of your edges pin them in place.

Now that you have the placement of your fabric on the burp rag and pinned you can start to sew in place. I choose a zigzag and a decorative stitch for this project.

Be sure to stitch all four edges. Have fun with your stitches and choosing different thread colors always dresses a project up! HAVE FUN!!

New Amy Butler Books/Patterns

So today was a BIG day for me HUGE! Not only did I receive some much anticipated fabric I ordered online but I also got two new books.. (have I mentioned I am a book nerd?) They are both by Amy Butler and include patterns. 20 patterns to be exact!!! OMG!! Little Stitches for little ones (pretty much describes itself don't you think?) is so adorable. The book includes some of the most amazing baby ideas and patterns. Will make some great gifts for my expecting friends and family!!

I also got the "In Stitches". Which also included all the patterns!! Again OMG!! This one is more adult driven.. Has some really great ideas for house warming gifts and personal : )

Don't worry I will be sure to post some pics once I have created them : )

Hi! I have had a few questions about the bags I have pictured. These I am delighted to say I MADE! One design is an Amy Butler patter and the other was a Simplicity both were created with Amy Butler fabric. Which I happen to LOVE any and all of Amy Butler's patterns, fabric, etc. They are all wonderful! I will be soon putting some of them on my Etsy acct along with some of my baby items I have been busy with (shown above). I will post a blog later on how to do it!
